Work in Progress Wednesday

What have I been up to?   Hmm let’s see… it feels like a ton, but really not so much.  Just a lot of the mundane family and house stuff.  We had a great 4th of July with family and friends.  Well, till my little one accidently burn his finger on a sparkler just as the fireworks were about to begin.  It was nothing serious but the poor thing was traumatized by the whole thing (as was I) and needed a little mommy love and a bandage, so we left early and missed most of the fireworks.  I felt like a horrible mom that it happened and that the other kids had to miss out, but I had to deal with the situation at hand and chock the rest of it up to a learning experience.   Note to self:  Next year NO SPARKLERS!  Mommy just can’t handle it.

Since then it has been all about entertaining the kids and keeping them away from the television and video games.  AKA, my sewing time, but I am not complaining because we are having a blast just hanging out and being in the pool.  Our summer can be best described by this article I read this morning, because yes my toddler just spent 2 days in the same outfit and the kids are in the pool as we speak instead of taking showers, but hey at least they are not in front of the tv.  Right?

Even though the kids have been taking up a majority of my time, I have been able to get a few things done.  I made this cute little magnetic pin holder for a friend.  She is not a sewer but I thought it would be cute on her dresser to hold safety pins and such.  I really hope she likes it.  If your interested in how I put it together, I am in the process of writing up a blog post about it and hopefully it will be finished later today or tomorrow.

The other thing I have been working is a quilt.  Unfortunately I can’t share to much about it right now.  I know, I hate when other bloggers say that to, but since it is impossible for me to keep anything a complete secret, I thought I would share a little sneak peak.

I will be linking this up to Freshly Pieced and her weekly Work in Progress Wednesday link-up. There you will find other talented quilters and hear all about what they have going on.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

  1. can't wait to see what you do with the fabric in your sneak peak photo - it's looking good so far! looking forward to seeing how you made your magnetic pin holder - I was wishing I had one the other day when I was sewing the hem on my skirt, it would have been so much easier to toss the pins in a dish than stick them in a pincushion.

  2. Ah.... Do I see vintage modern? One of my favorites.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Loving you blog. Have fun with the kiddos. They grow up SO. FAST.

    Take care,

  3. Next time you use sparklers, use a solo cup and put the unlit end through the cup. Child's hand goes inside the cup holding the sparkler and no more spark burns
